Celebrate St. Patrick Day at Surfside Beach, Texas! This will be the 25th year for the largest parade on the Texas Gulf Coast, and this year the parade will be on March 13, 2010. This family oriented event is sponsored by the St. Patrick’s Day Organization of Surfside Beach, Beach House Associates and Budweiser.
Decorated floats, vehicles, motorcycles, horses, 4-wheelers, golf carts, clowns, etc., will create a festive atmosphere with the tossing of beads, candy, and toys to the thousands of spectators that line the streets and beach. Cash prizes and trophies are given for the best Irish themes in each category. Best of all, there is no entry fee for the parade. DJ Jim Moody will be the “Master of Ceremonies”.
The location of the Irish Costume Party the weekend prior to the parade has not been determined. The St. Patrick’s Parade Committee is hoping that Stahlman Park will be rebuilt by that time. Where the Costume contest will be held there will be trophies and cash for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the adult category, and the children’s category (age 1-17).
The parade will start from Surfside City Hall, which is located at 1304 Monument Drive, at 1:00 pm. Entries need to be at City Hall by 10:00 am to register and be assigned a place in line. The judging begins at 11:30 am.
The parade is sponsored by the St. Patrick’s Day Organization of Surfside Beach Texas, Beach House Associates, Budweiser, local businesses, and private individuals.
